Andrea Profili offers consulting services for nonprofits and schools to develop string orchestral programs and teacher training. Her mission is to support the growth of El Sistema leaders in order to reach and impact communities at a global level.
Profili has 12 years of expertise creating string programs in the US and abroad. Her specialty is in developing string programs that sustain sequential pedagogical goals required for students’ success and growth. She has been working in NYC since 2012 and co-founded the WHIN Music Project and American Youth Orchestra.
Profili graduated from New England Conservatory’s El Sistema Fellowship in 2011 and has been actively working with nucleos across the United States to:

train teachers in conducting and sequential instruction

find and select repertoire for mixed-level ensembles

facilitate peer to peer learning and instruction

lead sectionals

conduct orchestras of all levels
In addition to her continuing work as Executive Director of Orchestrating Dreams, Profili has collaborated and consulted with such programs as MYCincinnati, Austin Soundwaves, Community Music Works, Youth Orchestra of St. Luke’s, Opportunity Music Project, and Upbeat NYC.
Profili’s interdisciplinary pedagogy combines elements from Suzuki method, Music Learning Theory, and El Sistema with the scientific method. Using her unique approach to instruction, Profili aims to facilitate student leadership and to improve student learning by focusing on process-based goals. Her method of scientific inquiry through music has provided consistently positive results with young musicians of all levels and diverse abilities.
